How to Treat Razor Bumps

Most men and women were still using razors to shave off body hair since it is painless and also a fast method. Some couldn’t handle the pain of waxing body hair and others have sensitive skin that’s why they can’t use depilatory creams.

What is a Razor Bump?

Razor bumps are most likely caused by friction from the razor and ingrown hairs. Ingrown hairs are caused when hair grows into your skin instead of out, it is like a pimple.

Did you know?

You can have razor bumps too after waxing and plucking because the hair may curl and turn inward and since new skin cells grow over the hair, it is trapped and can cause bumps.

Ways to Treat Razor Bumps

Use Salicylic Acid and Glycolic Acid

Salicylic Acid works to alleviate razor bumps and eliminate dead skin cells. It allows the ingrown hair to find its way out of the pores and reduces the appearance of the bump.

When skin cells clogged the pores and trap the hair inside, Glycolic Acid can help those cells out of the way and allow the hair to come to the surface.

Various products contain one of these two ingredients such as cleansers, toners, and lotions.

Tweeze it out

Make sure to tweeze it out if the hair is visible because if not it can cause worse problems. Sterilize your tweezer before using it and make sure you have clean skin and hands while doing it to avoid skin infection.

Moisturize your skin

Once you are done shaving apply a moisturizer. Use a moisturizer with aloe vera or shea butter. It will hydrate, soften, and protect your skin that can help to avoid developing bumps.

Use Warm Washcloth

If there is a razor bump on your skin apply a warm wet washcloth on your skin to soften and draw the ingrown hair out.

Stop Shaving the Area

Razor bumps can be found in different areas such as arms, legs, underarms, pubic area, and other body parts that you are shaving. If there are single or multiple bumps stop shaving them first at least until the area is healed.
