When you’re expecting a baby you want to make sure that he/she is safe while inside your womb. You need to be very careful with what you eat and drink, and avoid the unhealthy lifestyle that you have. These are not just the factors that may cause harm to your baby while inside your womb, the skincare products that you were using can cause harm to the baby because it is being absorbed by your skin.

We know that a lot of women still want to do their skincare despite being pregnant because pregnancy can cause lots of changes in your skin. Some women are lucky not to experience these changes but most pregnant woman tends to experience:

  • Darkening Skin
  • Acne

Salicylic Acid with High Dose: In a chemical peel or taken orally

Hydroquinone: A skin-lightening agent that can easily be absorbed by the skin (25%-35% according to experts) it is best to avoid using it while pregnant.

Phthalates & Formaldehyde: Which is not also encouraged even if you’re not pregnant. 

According to experts, you may use products with Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C serum, and Salicylic Acid in low doses. However, to be sure of the safety of your and your child always consult your trusted dermatologist before applying any products on your skin during pregnancy.
