Skincare Products That Are Not Necessary (But not Harmful)
We are fond of trending skincare products whenever it is the new talk in town we like to have those as well. There’s nothing wrong with that!
There are some skincare products that aren’t really necessary to use on your skin but not really bad if you choose to use them. What were trying to say is, you may not use it as often as the others that are really essential.
Blackhead Pore Strips
According to a dermatologist, not all blackheads are the same and pore strips aren’t the solution because you don’t treat the underlying cause by just stripping it. It is best to use products with retinoids, salicylic acid, and niacinamide.
You can still use pore strips, but reduce it to once a month for every other month.
Jade Rollers
Jade Rollers is a massage tool that can help with depuffing and lymphatic drainage. It is not wrong to use it if you want to however for those who are saying that it builds collagen, can cure acne, and help with rosacea– those are not true
You don’t really need this on your everyday skincare routine but you may buy one if you want.
Toners
Today, there are a lot of innovative cleansers that can do deep cleansing. We need toners before to remove residue that was left after washing your face and most toners consist of alcohol which is not really good for your skin.
However, as per the expert's advice, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, it is right to use toners that contain beneficial actives and as long as the toner helps you to deal with your skin problem then you may continue using it. Actually, if you don’t have oily or acne-prone skin you may ditch using a toner.
Cleansing Devices
These aren’t necessarily too to have, not having it is not a big deal after all. The problem with cleansing brushes is they harbor a lot of bacteria, so if you want to use a cleansing device choose silicone cleansing devices because silicone has something that keeps bacteria away.
However, a cleansing brush can be beneficial if you use it only once in a while like when having your monthly facial because using it daily, scrubbing and vibrations can do more harm than good in the long run.
Pore Reducing Products
We don’t want to be a bearer of bad news, because no matter what you do you can’t change the size of your pores. That’s why any product that says it can reduce pores is 100% not true however, you can change the way your pores appear by keeping your pores clear of dirt and oil. Remember, the size of your pores is mostly due to genetics, age, and sun damage.
Again, you may still use these products we mentioned above—however, keep in mind that if you use them they’re only considered as a bonus on your skincare routine meaning they are not really essential.
