Soothing Your Sensitive Skin

When you have sensitive skin it is most likely to get irritated easily by weather, products, and hormones. The most common symptom of having sensitive skin is inflammation. Inflammation occurs when the skin’s outer barrier layer is damaged, often through a lack of hydration, overexposure to the sun, or contact with irritants such as harsh soaps, detergents, or anti-bacterial gels.

So here are some ways how you can soothe or calm sensitive skin.

Use a Soothing Mist

Keep a Skin Mist with you especially during post-workout, on a plane, or in an extremely hot climate. You can counteract feelings of heat and redness with a soothing mist.

Protect your skin against the sun

It is important to keep your skin protected from the sun especially when you have sensitive skin. Use SPF+30 into your daily skincare routine.

Use Humidifier

This can help to add moisture to the air especially during the summer and winter seasons. Skin can be very dry during these seasons making it more sensitive.

Use a Calming Moisturizer

It is important that you don’t use moisturizers with alcohol and they should be non-fragrant. You should use moisturizers with minimal ingredients to avoid irritating your skin. Look for products that contain ceramides and have restorative qualities.

Keep Skin Cool

Take showers with lukewarm water and keep it short which is not more than 10-15 minutes, excess heat can unsettle sensitive skin. You can also do a cold compress to reduce any swelling on your skin, Wet a damp cloth and stick it in the freezer for a few minutes. Apply it to the irritated area for 5-10 minutes.

Skin sensitivity may get worse as the woman ages, as older skin tends to be more dehydrated. And since we don’t have control over some factors that causes skin sensitivity it is best to focus on making your skincare better. This is not just for people who have sensitive skin types because all skin can feel sensitive at times.
